A good even first half where both teams played some nice stuff but no-one really created any real chances. Highlights included Myla coming off her line to mop up well in our goal and us being unable to find the right final ball. A good through ball put a Pogmoor player in which was taken well to give Pogmoor the advantage.
As the half went on we managed to control the ball more with Jessie making some great runs and passes, finally just before half time Ellie battled hard to win a dribble in which saw Grace cross in a great ball with both Jessie and Ruby keeping the ball alive in the box before Arya stabbed home for her first ever goal in two and a half years.
Grace had a chance to score, taking down a kickout by their keeper and hitting a first time shot but the keeper recovered and made a great stop.
The second half saw us control the game and play much more forward with us pinning Pogmoor onto the edge of their own box, helped by our defenders putting in some great tackles on the half way line and playing some smart well placed passes especially Penelope and Lucie.
Pheope helped picking up any loose balls at the back and sniffing any danger out.
Georgie was at the middle of most of our play either recovering passes from the defenders and turning into space or stopping Pogmoor breakaways and setting out attacks up with decisive passes.
Nevaeh and Myla were using their strength to great effect with Ruby chasing every loose ball in the middle and not giving the Pogmoor players time on the ball. This pressure mounted and led to another attack with the ball finding its way to Grace just inside who unleashed a great shot. Arya, Nevaeh and Myla both had chances to add to the score sheet but were thrashed by some good goalkeeping and shots just rolling wide of the post.
A great performance against a team of similar level. It was a great game between two teams that tried to play football and gave it their all.
Special shout outs to Penelope and Lucie who continued their recent great run of performances and really have showed their massive improvements since the start of the season....you would never know it was Penelope’s first season as a player with the way she plays now.
Also a big shout out to Georgie who had one of her best games at 7v7 and showed her quality passing setting up numerous attacks.
Girl of the game had to go to Arya she had a great game and showed her qualities in both midfield and defence but she mainly gets it for finally getting her first goal which got a big cheer from the girls, parents and coaches.
