Millmoor U16's (4) v (0) Charnock Girls U16's (County Cup)
The U16's started their season off with a c County Cup game against Millmoor from League 1, two leagues higher than our position this season. All the girls were happy the season had finally started and were up for the challenge.
The game started pretty even but inevitably, Millmoor started to get a few chances. We managed to keep them out with some brilliant defending and excellent saves from Ella in goal but about halfway through the 1st half, Millmoor managed to get a goal following a good strike from the edge of the box.
Our girls then had a good 10 mins spell and with Evie going through a few times but with some good defending, they managed to clear their lines, taking us into halftime at 1-0.
We had played well, and felt confident going into the second half onmy a goal behind. The half started the same with good play from both teams but around the 55 mins, we seemed to lose concentration and Millmoor managed to get 3 goals in a mad quick10 minute spell.
Charnock kept pushing but couldn’t seem to find a goal and the game finished 4-0 to Millmoor.
Overall, this was an excellent performance from our U16's, playing a team two divisions higher.
The Millmoor coaches commented on how well we had played and the performances from some of our players were better than anything they saw last season in the top division.
Well done girls, a performance to be proud of. Well done to Millmoor, a good team with a good group of players. It was a pleasure to get the chance play against them, and good luck in the next round.
