Scawthorpe Scorpions U11s (12) v (0) Charnock Ridgeway Girls U11 Purples
Saturday 22nd May 2021 - 9:30am Kick Off.
Venue: Windmill Balk Lane, Doncaster
Our final game of the shield saw us with an early kick off in Doncaster short on numbers due to illness, holidays and car trouble. We arrived early with 6 players and the Scawthorpe coach agreed to drop to 6v6.
To every player, all 6 of them played what was their best game of the season. Kate was in goal and showed how her kicking and positioning in goal had improved - immensely proud of Kate today as she stood up and went in goal for the full game.
Lottie was missing Neiva alongside her today but the engine on this girl is unbelievable she never stopped for the whole game covering across the whole of the back area, one point she was putting a tackle in at one side of the pitch the next she was over the other side making a tackle.
We played Maisie and Amber just in front of Lottie and both helped Lottie out. Maisie marshalled the middle while Amber had several runs that nearly led to goals which in previous game we had failed to break the half way line. Lola was strong as always and linked up well with Amber and had runs that caused the opposition trouble and took some great corners - in previous games we had only had 1 corner and we had 7 in total today which again shows how the girls are coming on. Charlotte covered all positions today and towards the end made some charging runs that if not for some good defending could have led to goals.
The result did not reflect the performance as at half time it was 9-0 but the opposition girls were talking about how good Amber had been. To only concede 4 in the 2nd half was really pleasing for the girls as they never gave up and should be proud of their performances today.
With our last game over we now look to next season and working on improving for the new season.
A big thank you to the girls and families this strange season, very stop start, and I hope all the girls have enjoyed it and are looking forward to next season.
