Charnock Girls U11 Purple (0) v Doncaster Belles U11 (12) - Cup Game
Our final group game saw us come up against a good Donny Belles U11 side who a week earlier had beat our other U11s team.
After last week's impressive performance, Lottie was today's captain in only her 3rd game. She has shown how fearless she is in a tackle and for her size is not scared of anyone.
Like every game, we spoke before about enjoying the game and working on what we have been doing in training. We can see how everyone is getting better each week, and it will all start to come together.
Similar to the last 2 games we have started well getting stuck in and crowding out the opposition, making a nuisance of ourselves and not allowing much space for the other team. Today we saw some excellent defensive play from Nieva and Lottie who as a partnership are getting better each week and growing in confidence. Our keeper, Sophia restricted Donny and with strong play form the others, meant at half time we were only 4-0 down.
Some strong performances from Amber, Maisie, Charlotte, Lola, Grace, and Tamzin in Midfield and we saw them getting stuck in against a strong team.
Amara went in goal for the 2nd half and pulled of a string of amazing saves but like in previous weeks we tired, and seemed to lose shape a bit. This is where we lacked some experience but something we can work. Donny Belle's player made good use of the space and stretched us at times.
It was a tough week for our front players Kate and Amara with most of the game been played in our half, but they got stuck in and tried.
The girls are impressing us each week with how much they are coming together as a team and showing us they are taking in what they have been doing in training. A positive to take away from today was that it was pleasing to see the girls finding space and passing well.
We will now wait to see who we get in our group in the shield and continue to work and improve.
