About the club

Welcome to Charnock Ridgeway Women & Girls FC.

The girls section of our club was set up in April 2016 with the help of an awards for all grant from a Big Lottery Fund, set up by Charlotte & Rachel who are both very passionate about girls being involved in football. Our sessions currently run at Sheffield Springs Academy, Hurlfield Road, S12. Going into the 2023/24 season we now have teams playing at U7s, U8, U9, U10, U11, U12, U13, U14, U16, U18s and Open Age.

We also run weekly Wildcats Development Sessions for girls 5yrs+, Mixed Just Play session (16yrs+) and an Over 30's session.

It is an absolute commitment of our club that no child is ever excluded from playing football for reasons of gender, race, religion, sexual orientation or perceived ability as a footballer. We strongly believe that football is a game to be played and enjoyed by everyone and our success to date is not measured by the trophies we win, but by the number of children who chose to play for and remain at Charnock Ridgeway FC throughout their childhood.

We have just celebrated our 7 year birthday and now offer over 250 girls and women the chance to play football on a regular basis.

The girls section is organised by a committee which consists of: a Chair Person, Secretary, Treasurer and Welfare Officers. Also within the team we have social media champions, match day managers (set up/ set down equipment), and a fundraising group.

We have lots of help from various other parents who do tasks like running our tuck shops, setting up the pitch, organising the raffle and bringing their daughters to training and matches come rain or shine!
